Piper Shores is proud to announce its successful reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). As Maine’s premier life plan retirement community, this prestigious recognition confirms that both our independent living operation and our “Person-Centered Long-Term Care Community” (Holbrook) meet CARF’s rigorous standards.

Founded in 1966, CARF is renowned for setting high standards that focus on continuous improvement in governance, financial practices, and resident care. Achieving CARF reaccreditation reflects our commitment to maintaining these high standards through consistent innovation.

Leanne Fiet, Chief Operating Officer of Piper Shores, expressed her pride in the accomplishment, stating, “It’s a rigorous process, but it truly sets Piper Shores apart. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

This reaccreditation is particularly significant because it is voluntary. Unlike some regulatory processes, CARF accreditation is not mandated but pursued by communities that are committed to going above and beyond in their services and operations. Fiet explained the process and noted that the leadership team and about 30 individuals spent the last 18 months working together to highlight and outline the work for the reaccreditation. CARF specifically recognized Piper Shores for its strong relationships with residents, the positive culture among staff, and the diversity on its volunteer board of directors

“This collaborative process allowed us to showcase our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to providing personalized care,” said Peter Sullivan, Chief Nursing Officer at Piper Shores. “Achieving this accreditation reaffirms our mission of creating a living environment where residents thrive and feel empowered to live life to the fullest.”

“This reaccreditation from CARF is a significant achievement for Piper Shores and a reflection of our commitment to excellence in resident care and community living,” said Phillip Jean, CEO of Piper Shores. “I’m very proud of our team and the entire Piper Shores community for their hard work, collaboration, and the passion they bring to ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care and support. This recognition reaffirms our mission to create a vibrant, engaged, and thriving environment for everyone who calls Piper Shores home.”

Piper Shores Five-Year Accreditation is effective from May 22, 2024 through December 31, 2028.
